MAC Pearl Glide Liner Review and A Purple Look


These babies are pigmented and apply like buttah!

I have tried the Pearl Glide liners, and while I am not really a fan of glitter liners, I am loving the pearl glides because they really do glide and not tug on your lids. They are very creamy and application is a breeze. I love the funky colors like Bank Roll and Fly-By-Blu because the colors really pop on your lashline. These liners are very popular among MAC fans because of how they glide like butter on the lashline. The downside though is that you can NOT use these on your waterline or to tightline as this has glitters that can irritate or even scratch the surface of your corneas. Better be safe than sorry!

In the look below, I applied one of my Pearl Glides, and I used some of my shadows that have not been getting enough love from me lately. I unearthed my Quietly pigment (also part of this year's Little Darlings Cool Pigments set). The lavender shimmer is gorgeous. I also used my MAC Holiday 2007 Royal Assets Cool Eyes palette for this look, and I am loving the purples. I was bent on getting Shadowy Lady pro pan from MAC soon, when I realized I had it all along in this particular palette! Good thing I googled Shadowy Lady, and in one website it was mentioned that it was a part of the Royal Assets Cool Eyes. Duh- I didn't know I had it all along! I love the deep, dark, matte purple and it is amazing as a crease color.

is it safe to line them? there was some stuff going on saying they aren't really safe.. only for the waterline right?

i like my black russian awfully a lot.. however.. i wasn't too sure if its ok to line it on the upper lashline so i stopped using it.

I don't use it on my waterline at all- only on the lashline or underneath the lashline if you're using it on your lower lid. As I said, it's not good for your waterline because the shards of glitter can irritate your corneas, although just using it on the lashline (not the waterline) is perfectly safe.

I actually have Bankroll (green) and love it. It's really creamy and glides on effortlessly. The only thing I don't like about it is the glitter. I wished they came out with ones that do not have the glitter. Even when I take my makeup off I can still see traces of glitter on my face.

Same here. Didn't like the glitter and I hope they come out with a glitter-free one with the same formula. You might want to try Urban Decay 24/7, though. They have amazing, very creamy liners just like these with a myriad of shades (I talked about it in my previous and current entries).

I thought that the UD 24/7 has glitter in it too? That's what I noticed when I went to Sephora not too long ago. Makeup Forever has a pretty creamy liner : Aqua Eyes. Have you tried those? I have one in brown. It's okay.

I don't think so...they have shimmer but not chunky glitter just like the Pearl Glides. Also, I use Zero on my waterline and it's great and doesn't irritate my eyes.

I checked the UD site and here is what they say about the liners. No mention of glitter at all, and it even recommends that these be used on the inner lid (I'm guessing waterline):
