Trying Out Meow's Manx Breed and Vandal Eyes

Can you say "HG"? The new Meow Manx breed is heaven-sent to all asian women, or anyone with predominantly yellow with some peach undertones. If you compare my FOTD below (wearing Manx) with my photos wearing Meow's Flawless Feline in Naughty Abyssinian, you'd notice that Manx is brighter, less beige, and really brings forth my yellow undertones. I cannot say that one is better than the other, but Manx really does perk up my complexion, although Abyssinian also makes it look flawlessly golden-beige. I would think either breed is a goldmine to my complexion. Manx is similar to my Lauress foundations in Creamy and Delicate Yellow that are my favorites as well. I wore Purrrfect Puss formula in Naughty Manx with just the tiniest bit of Fierce Manx thrown in it for good measure (didn't want to look too pale for summer). It worked, and I really like the color, finish and overall look. I really prefer Flawless Feline formula over Purrrfect Puss though, but the reason why I didn't use it was because I think Meow gave me the wrong shade in the little baggie marked "Flawless Feline Naughty Manx". It is SO much lighter than Frisky Manx which is supposed to be lighter, and a lot lighter than Naughty Manx in Pampered Puss and Purrrfect Puss formulas as well. I have always seen Flawless Feline shades to run a bit darker (some say more opaque, but I say darker) than their counterparts in the Purrrfect Puss and Pampered Puss formulas, so I am pretty much convinced that I got the wrong shade.

If you compare my Flawless Feline Naughty Manx (bottom right) with the rest of my samples, you'd think it's a Purrrfect Puss Frisky Manx (which I believe it is, or something lighter than that).

I want to get another sample of Flawless Feline in Naughty Manx to compare, because I really do believe I got a dud of a sample. I have a feeling FF in Naughty Manx is my breed, or Purrrfect Puss in Naughty and (a little) Fierce Manx.

I also tried my Vandal Eyes samples and I am really impressed with the texture and outstanding color payoff. It's quite similar to MAC's Veluxe Pearl formula eyeshadows, although if you want Vandal Eyes to really stand out, you should use a drop or two of mixing medium to foil it. I foiled the lid color and used the rest of the pigments dry. I also tried the Feliner in Purrr and I'm really loving it. I am more impressed with the Feliners than Vandal Eyes (probably because VE compare to many of Lumiere's and some of Fyrinnae's shadows), but Feliners are truly one of a kind. I have not seen mineral liners this pigmented, buttery, and long-lasting. The texture and finish are amazing as well. Purrr Feliner reminds me of my drying out MAC fluidline in Shade, albeit Purrr is a bit more blue. As usual, I'm loving my Meow loot.

Ahhh Aileen! You found another perfect match! You definitely are glowing in these pics. Finally someone posted a Manx review. I have been waiting for this! I have to definitely order some Manx and feliners soon. I am hoping to wait for a July 4th sale, but perhaps I should sample now so if I find a good match, I can do the full size for the hopefully July 4th sale... hmm... sorry, was just thinking in your blog.

OMG Aileen. I am now itching like crazy to order some Manx samples... i was waiting for their new blushes before I order. I hope you get the FF Naughty Manx issue sorted out.. it does look lighter than it should be. Anyway, once again,you look fantastic. (Meow should pay you to model all their feliners!!! You wear them so well!)

Thanks ladies. =) I already posted my query on the Cat Chat forum. I'm just concerned because another girl told me she bought a munchkin FF in Naughty Manx and it was so much lighter as well. It could be FF Naughty Manx's correct shade, or that batch was really a bad one. Hope I hear from the Big Cats soon.

BTW, Aileen... did you apply the Naughty Manx FF on skin? I know sometimes foundations look lighter in the jar/bag so I am wondering if by chance it isn't as light as it looks when you wear it...?? I am hoping for all our sakes that this isn't a dud batch.

you know, i didn't even realized the the shades varied between formulas until now. lol. anyway, i also received my manx samples and i thought the colors were a bit off too. looking from your pics, i got the same thing as you. i ordered frisky manx in all 3 formulas and ff naughty manx (possible dud?). so i can't compare the colors in the naughty range. but my ff naughty manx sample looks a bit darker and "beigy" than frisky manx in both pp formulas.

just fyi for everyone - pp frisky abys and pp frisky manx are very similar, only that manx is just a tad more yellow. ff frisky manx seems to be way off being really yellow. very very strange.

Thank you so much for the review! This really sounds like it might be my shade. The funny thing is all my FF samples in various breeds run slightly lighter than their PP counterparts. On my side, the Pampered versions seem to be the darkest and the Purrfects are somewhere in the middle. I've tried foundations that looked too light on my hand but matched pretty well on my face so do try the FF N-Manx on your face, just in case. Since you already got it :) Thanks also for the Purr review. It's on my wishlist and it's so nice to actually see it on a person as opposed to a swatch. It brings out your eyes beautifully!

Girl heart bunny and Jade- thanks! I get conflicting observations regarding the gradation of depth between shades and formulas, so I'm kinda concerned. Purrfect and Pampered are supposed to be sheerer (but I see them as lighter) than FF because FF is the heavy coverage formula, so the fact that FF Manx is lighter than Pam and Puss is really a mystery too me. I am afraid to use FF manx on my face because it's just way too light when swatched. But I think I don't have a choice, but maybe when I don't need to go anywhere. I really hope they don't have quality control issues. Wishing Meow answers my query soon!

Sorry I can't contribute on the depth between different formulas as I only got Pampered Puss for my samples.But looks like I should give Manx a try too! And that blush looks good. And so does your eyes!

OMG, what a perfect match for you! I agree you look a little perkier w/this vs. the N. Aby, but again, like Geminisc you look GREAT in all of them. I saw your post about the FF over on the Cat Chat Forum and I really am curious to hear the explanation about FF being lighter. I cannot wait to order Manx now after seeing how perfect it is on you. Aileen- You look radiant in Manx. It does something to your skin that just enlivens it. Probably that whole thing with it being more peachy/yellow and not olivey. You look gorgoeus. I love the feliner. It's eye bling without shimmer!

Periwinkle-how would you compare the PP formulas to FF? I usually wear Purrfect, and have no experience w/Pampered. Would you say the finish is the same for all 3? Have you heard anything from the Big Cats yet about your sample of N. Manx in FF being so light?

Ruby, good thing you asked that. I just tried Pam Puss today, would you believe? Yes it has heavier coverage than Purrfect, and since I still have issues withm FF, I think I'd have to do with Pam Puss because it is not as light (in terms of coverage) as Purr Puss, especially when used damp. I can't wait to hear about Meow's reply to my query (yes I emailed them already).

Thanks Periwinkle-did you notice a big color difference between Purrfect and Pampered N.Manx? Is Frisky too light? I think I'm just going to go ahead and order soon, I am too impatient to wait much longer! Also, there is a big announcement over on the Cat Chat Forum-Tammy announced tonight that Jessica is no longer w/Meow, instead wanting to be w/her children more. So hopefully that won't throw things off too much there, but still it's big. Thank GOD they are not shutting down shop though, imagine the panic??!!

ruby, the colors of Purr and Pam are almost identical, that's why I didn't hesitate to buy munchkins of Pam N and Fierce Manx. I do believe however that Pam is less yellow? You can compare my latest entry pics with this one, and you'd notice Purr Puss is a bit more yellow than Pam Puss. I love Pam Puss better than Purr because Purr has a very short life span on my skin.

Aileen Tammy answered on the Meow forum that there was indeed a mix up! Hopefully she will answer you soon. She also posted that Jessica has left Meow due to wanting to spend more time with her fam, her heart just wasn't in it anymore. So that is another reason for the lack of response gals are getting lately.
I'm sure things will be fine though, Tammy is super organised! She just needs to get a proper team together!
