I had the pleasure of trying out some of Coastal Scents' new cosmetic products and I can really say that these are really high-end, high-quality minerals and cosmetic tools. I especially loved the eyeshadows, the eyeliner pencil, and although I have not tried their brushes yet, I have read rave reviews about them. I also incorporated some of the shadows in a look that I am featuring in this entry.

There were some products from Coastal Scents that really intrigued me, like the crescent shadow fluff brush that you see in the picture. I stared at it for several minutes, trying to figure out how to use it. Do I sweep this over the lid like a regular shader brush? Do I line my lashline using this, following the curvature of the eye? It turns out that this was meant to apply two different colors of minerals by dipping them in opposite ends of the brush. Cool, huh? By the way, Coastal Scents' brushes are on sale right now at 20% off, but better hurry because the sale ends soon!

I had the pleasure of trying Coastal Scents' newest product, Sugar Butter Delight body scrub, made with unrefined shea butter and ultra moisturizing oils. Coastal Scents even made a claim that this product will leave one with the softest, silky skin upon leaving the shower, so much so that there is no need to apply lotion after application of this scrub. That made my expectations of this product quite high, and amazingly, it delivered.
Here are some of the loot I got during the glorious Thanksgiving sale last week. Some of these were bought at 50% off, so I was just really happy to get fullsize products at half the price. I was supposed to get a few samples but when sales as good as these come along, well, you have to take advantage.
Check out the beautiful swatches and product pictures! Notice the cute packaging. The swatches were applied dry using a Q-tip (or more universally known as cotton swab/bud). As most minerals, maximum color payoff can be achieved when these are used wet. I chose mostly matte blushes because in my experience, matte blushes have better staying power. I likewise need matte blushes to go with my MAC mineralize skinfinishes.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I just want to insert a little commercial break from all the wonderful holiday looks that have been sent in, and feature my thanksgiving look using Coastal Scents. I had a little "Eureka!" moment when I found a shade that is so much better on me, a 50-50 mix of Silk Medium 1.2 and Silk Light 1.2. I love how even the finish is and how natural it looked. I used Coastal Scent's blush in Sassy for this look and I really adore it! It's not too pigmented or too sheer like some other mineral blushes I've encountered, and I love the texture of Coastal Scents' blushes - very smooth and easy to apply. I want more!
I have been reading rave reviews about Silk Naturals' tinted lipgloss in Birthday Suit, aptly described on the site as the Ultimate Nude Lippie. I just love how creamy and non-drying it is, and it is truly the My Lips But Better shade. You can't beat the price as well. I'm really loving these two new-found (by me) mineral makeup companies.I also said that I would be using MAC mineralize eyeshadows for my looks to conquer my lukewarm reception of them because I really wasn't a fan. I used Earthly Riches today (been using mineralize e/s these past few weeks), and I am beginning to love the texture and color pay-off. No need to foil these babies anymore, and the texture is just fab. I think I'm beginning to defect.

So I am in a mineral makeup spree these days. I was pleased to try out Coastal Scents mineral foundation, and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and even-looking it was on my skin. I tried Silk Light and Silk Medium foundation (I mixed an even amount of each shade), but it was obviously too light on my skin. Maybe I should have stuck with straight Medium or a mix of Medium 1.2 and Light 1.2, or maybe straight Medium 1.2?? Arrggh... anyways, I will continue to try the samples, I'm really loving the smoothness of the finish and how it makes my skintone appear more even. I'd say it was medium coverage, but very buildable. I love that it also feels very light on the skin and doesn't make me feel I have foundation on. It also didn't make my skin itch nor did it do any chaos to my skin, in fact I would think it's pretty calming. I can't say anything else about its other products as I have not tried them yet, but will continue to do so in the next days or so. I got Coastal Scents' concealer brush and I love it! It's not too small so it can adequately cover up undereye circles and the taklon bristles are just of the perfect firmness.
I used Silk Naturals' Dait Bait perfecting powder for this look and I love how it made my skin look a bit luminous and, like its sheer version, it made my pores appear much smaller.I also used my new MAC product for this look: loose beauty powder in Soft Flame from the Of Beauty collection. I really like it; it's like a loose version of my favorite beauty powders in compacts (think beauty powders in Pearl Sunshine and Pearl Blossom from the MAC Barbie collection) and even loose mineralize skinfinishes. Application of the loose beauty powder was also a cinch with the MAC 187 brush.
