I'm Feelin' Blue

Again??? Yup, again. I used to hate blue (always preferring green for eye makeup), but I wanted to use my blue shadows that have not been receiving enough love from me lately. Here is how I did them (all products MAC unless otherwise specified):

Apply Beige-ing shadestick on lid, brows and lower lashline as base. Apply Rollickin' paint pot on lid (don't worry if finish is uneven, it will be rectified later on).

Here is a picture encompassing three steps. Using a shader brush, apply Aromaleigh Pure Hue eyeshadow in Heaven foiled on entire lid, then apply Shu Uemura eyeshadow in ME Blue 638 on mid to outer lid. Foil Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonics eyeshadow in Moonaged Daydream on outer V.

Cory Minerals and A Gold/Bronze Look

I just received this mineral makeup loot from Cory Cosmetics, and I'm liking everything I got. I made a previous entry on Cory HERE, and as I stated in that entry, the sample bags are miniscule BUT it will last you a really long time because a crumb or two are all you need for one application as this brand churns out really concentrated minerals. I just love the blushes because they are truly pigmented and finish is really awesome. As always, a grain or two of these blushes are all you need for a beautiful application of blush. Truly, the sample bags are tiny pigment bombs.

I also tried out my sample baggies of Cory's mica-free mineral foundations and I found out that Beyond Cream was my closest shade. I bought a full-size pot of this shade and I really wonder when I'd use this all up since a very minisculte amount is all I need. Good thing mineral makeup doesn't expire!

Since these minerals are VERY concentrated, I figured my tried-and-tested wet application of mineral foundation using a kabuki or flat top brush simply won't work with this brand. Instead of the buffing method, I use the "sweeping" method using Cory. I just tap a really miniscule amount onto the lid, swirl my fluffy powder brush (not my dense kabuki or flat top), tap excess, then gently sweep the brush onto my face. I use two thin applications of Cory and the result is smooth and velvety. If I use any more of the foundation, the result would have been cakey, pasty and quite unnatural. This is the most concentrated mineral foundation I've ever used (and it probably is the most concentrated commercially sold out there), so it took me a while to get used to the new application, but it is just worth it. I also love how economical it is because you only use so little for one application. The full-size jars as well as the samples are cheaper if you compare them to other brands.

I did a bronze/gold/brown eye look to go with my Cory look. I also used my new Cory Bronze Haze blush and I love the finish and the color. I can't wait to play with my other Cory blush samples.

The She Space Velvets

I received my She Space Velvets order a couple of days ago, and indeed, they are just the perfect semi-matte colors for those who dislike too much shimmer in their shadows. They remind me so much of Taylormade's more matte-ish pigments, both in texture and color pay-off. I just didn't like the way these pigments darkened when foiled, but they lightened considerably once dried. In fact, I can actually use these pigments dry (unlike the shimmery ones that I need to foil to achieve maximum color pay-off), but it is important that a really tacky base is used, like MAC shadesticks or cream paint pots, like Soft Ochre or Painterly.

I was so stoked last Saturday when I received no less than 5 packages from different mineral makeup companies on some samples and full size products that I ordered online. I went out with the family to eat and while waiting for the food to arrive, I couldn't help but open my packages right there (I brought them with me - ha, how crazy is that?). I was mainly excited to see my prebuy Lumiere brushes (take 3), and they are absolutely gorgeous:

Orange Zest and Some MAC N Collection Swatches

Here is an orange/copper/olive look using some of my favorite MAC Moonbathe collection shadows. Moonbathe was one of my favorite MAC color stories of 2007 because of the lovely, wearable shades and gorgeous colors. The packaging was also very pretty. I make it a point to wear the shadows regularly because it really is such a shame to let these hues go to waste by languishing in my drawer. I did however substitute Sable Wrap from the Holiday '06 Warm Eyes palette for Saturnal from the Moonbathe collection because they are almost identical. I am wearing Mulberry blush from my Cory blush haul and I am SO loving her blushes. They are indeed so pigmented that a couple of "granules" are all you need to create a pretty shade for your cheeks. I topped it with my new Light Flush mineralize skinfinish (MSF) from the new N collection and it's just gorgeous. The two MSFs from this new collection, Light Flush and Warmed, are really winners in my book. They apply prettily, have a satiny sheen, and are not messy glitter bombs like some of the other MSFs. The fact that they are devoid of chunky glitters makes them true keepers. I also love the warm bronze look Warmed gives, and the pretty pink sheen Light Flush provides.

MAC N Skinfinishes, Cory Minerals and Red Cherry Falsies

I received all these awesome beauty products today, and I can't wait to try them out. I got some cute samples of Cory minerals, and I am amazed at how fast Cory was able to ship these. Their samples are really miniscule, though. As in really tiny baggies of a pinch of minerals. I bought them for 35 cents each so I guess one granule is half a cent. However, I did hear that you need a very very small amount of Cory minerals to get the look that you want, because this is one of the most concentrated mineral makeup formulas available, and that a little goes a really long way. Cory is also known for providing excellent, full coverage in its foundations. It's one of those brands that provide the heaviest coverage, so I placed the blushes to the test. I placed a really, really small amount on my swirling dish, took my angled blush brush and swirled in the bowl, and applied. I thought I wouldn't see any color but lo and behold - the tiny granules came out uber-pigmented on my cheeks! I swear, I think I used 3 granules of these blushes. I think I won't be able to finish these samples until after a pretty long while. Wow. The foundations however run really light. I should have read more reviews about ordering a few shades darker than my usual shade before I ordered. I am impressed with all the beautiful shades of blushes, though. Aren't they gorgeous? I can't wait to try them out because I've never seen any mineral blush this concentrated before. They're like tiny pigment bombs. They seem small but they explode into beautiful clouds of color when applied.
