MAC Cool Heat Neutral Look and Aromaleigh and DreamWorld Haulage

First of all, I am so sorry for the lack of posts lately; I was out-of-town last weekend and when I came back, I got slammed with work that I didn't know what to do first. But I am back!

Here is a neutral look I used using the Cool Heat neutral shadows. I used Warming Trend packed on the lid using the MAC 252 brush (how did I live without this brush? The color pay-off when using this is fantastic!), then I used Mulch on the crease, Tempting above the crease, and Solar White to highlight and on inner corners. I just LOVE Solar White, I think I like this better than Femme-Fi. I applied Almay liquid liner on the upper lashline and Brownborder technakohl liner on waterline. I also used one of my favorite MAC blushes, Petalpoint, and Syrup lipstick.

Here is another look using the same lipstick, but I don't know what I used for the rest. Haha.

Then I got my Aromaleigh loot! Woohoo! I was so excited to finally see my full-size Elemental Lustres and Pure Hues. More Aromaleigh Looks and DreamWorld Lippies

Here are some more looks using Aromaleigh's Elemental Lustre and Gothic Lolita collections. As I continue to try my samples, I noticed that some Elemental Lustres are not as shiny or foil-like as others, and I've worn my favorites in this look. I love how the colors pop even when only a tiny bit of pigment is used. I have already gone ahead and bought some full sizes of the Elemental Lustres as they are on sale today till next week. I also used the beautiful Satin Laces from the Gothic Lolita collection. I really loved the combination of colors in this look. I am getting a full size of Satin Laces because I've never come across a color like this, especially in real life, it is just so unique.

Neutral Eyes and Not-So-Neutral Lips

I don't want to say bold lips because they're not really "bold" in the true sense of the word. They're just a little darker than what I usually wear. In the first look, I used Silk Naturals' lipstick in Bliss. I love this lippie so much that I think I have 3 tubes of this. It really brightens my face, and I also use this to touch up during the day, along with Jaybird or Birthday Suit lipglosses (which are actually colored lipbalms) from the same company. Let me say that I love all my lipglosses and lipsticks from Silk Naturals. They are never icky on the lips, have a pleasant smell/taste, and the colors really flatter my skintone. Best of all, the pricing is very reasonable. I have several of the lipsticks and glosses, but my favorite shades are the ones I mentioned above. I am actually on my third tube of Birthday Suit!

I used Buff'd mineral foundation in a 70-30 mix of Chamois and Almond. It turned a little dark because I am really straight Chamois, but tried to infuse some Almond into my look for summer. It turned pretty okay in the photos, though. Buff'd is one of the more underrated mineral makeup companies in my opinion. This is probably due to the fact that it's a Canadian brand and so people from the US get turned off from buying products that entail more shipping fees and longer turnaround times. I can vouch that the fee and waiting time are not as high/long, and the wait is well worth the products. I love the silky feel and smooth finish of this foundation. I also love the fact that they have so many shades to choose from, so much so that you can most probably find your perfect shade without need of mixing.

For the eyes, I used Valerie Beauty mineral shadows in Classy, Bootcut and Gala, and MAC White Wheat eyeshadow - fun, neutral colors that are perfect for day/office use.

Aromaleigh Pure Hue Pigments and DreamWorld's Amenti

Last week I ordered several samples of Aromaleigh Pure Hue eyeshadows because they were on sale for $0.98 each with free shipping if you only buy samples. I was honestly disappointed when I got the samples because there was only a smidgen of the pigment per baggie, just like The She Space, but at least She Space samples are only fifty cents each. I then decided to try these pigments out today and I am just impressed by how pigmented and beautiful they are when applied. Application was also very easy and I didn't have a hard time blending these out. I can honestly say that these Pure Hue minerals are the closest thing to MAC pigments, both in pigmentation and application, at least in my experience with mineral eyeshadows. Hmmm, is that the reason why these are expensive? I like the fact that they are not just sparkle bombs, but, just like their name, they radiate pure hue and the texture is outstanding, especially for mineral shadows. I applied all these foiled using my MAC mixing medium, and boy, did my mixing medium love these babies! They really worked very well together and were never splotchy in application.

I guess the real test would be the staying power of these shadows. I used my MAC Beige-ing shadestick as base, then I applied Rollickin' paint pot on the lid under the shadows to smoothen the application and to make the colors pop. I'm still wearing these as I write and I have applied the pigments 5 hours ago, and amazingly, the eye look is still immaculate with no trace of creasing or smearing. I now understand why I read a lot of raves regarding Aromaleigh shadows. I would prefer to stick with Pure Hue for now, though (for those unfamiliar with the company, Aromaleigh offers a wide range of formulas and an unbelievable spectrum of colors for the eyes). I can't wait to try my other little baggies of pigment bombs!

Also, I am wearing my favorite mineral foundation in DreamWorld, but this time, I added Amenti shade to my usual shades of Theia and Tethys. Amazingly, it looked a lot better to my eyes. I love that Amenti infused a warmer color to my face, without making me look jaundiced. Unfortunately, I forget the exact ratio of these shades, but I surmise it won't be hard to come up with this look using the three, as DreamWorld shades are very forgiving. I also used DreamWorld's Butterscotch cream topping (finishing powder) in the silk formula, and I just LOVE how creamy the finish was. Perhaps it's time go get full sizes of the cream toppings and Amenti!

Purples and Periwinkles

Here's a purple look I used with my DreamWorld mineral foundation in mostly Theia (90% Theia and just 10% Tethys). It does look dark, though. I guess more Tethys in the mix next time! I also used my favorite mineral eyeshadows from Valerie Beauty, and this time I chose Periwinkle Sky and $400 Shoes. I just love the combination of these two lilac colors. I added my favorite purple pigment, MAC Grape, as a crease color. I'm sleepy so I guess it's time to shut up. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

Sorry for the uneven brows, they will be waxed pretty soon!

Neutrals, Oranges, and Greens

I have amassed quite a bit of FOTDs lately as I have been either too lazy or too tired to post them. As a result, I think (I hope not) I have forgotten some of the products I used for these. I remember vividly though the foundations I used for these looks: Joppa, DreamWorld, and Meow (with a layer of Oceanmist underneath). I love these brands as they control my oilies and yet do not make my skin super dry. I am always amazed by the ultra-smooth finish these foundations give.

For this first look, I used my limited edition and rare MAC eyeshadow in Sunplosion for the first time. Yes, the first time. I'd wanted to really pack it on so that the beautiful vividness of the coppery orange could be seen, but I didn't have the time. Also, I didn't want to wear a very bright eye look for work, so this would have to do. I did commit a cosmetic mortal sin, though - I totally forgot to put on (the horror!) - mascara! I was such in a hurry that it completely slipped my mind. I know, eye makeup without mascara looks funky to say the least - but hey, nobody's perfect!

The Quest Continues: DreamWorld and T123 Minerals (Adorned With Grace)

I've been testing out my spring/summer shades for two brands: DreamWorld and T123 (Adorned With Grace). The latter is still in the testing stages and will be open to the public in a few months or so. DreamWorld is a fledgling mineral makeup company that's been earning rave reviews based on the quality of its products and Ellie's (the owner's) amazing CS.

I've found my fall-winter shade in DreamWorld using a mix of Theia and Tethys. It's been working great until I realized that I would be getting a wee bit darker soon and would therefore need a summer formula/shade to use.

In THIS entry, I mentioned how Ellie was kind enough to send darker yellow-toned foundation samples for me to try and see which one would match my spring/summer skintone. I tried a 50-50 mix of Amenti and Theia which was still a wee bit dark, so I added Ashnan into the mix. Ashan has lighter yellow undertones and it made the look a little lighter but still a tad dark. However, I plan to save it for the onslaught of the summer heat here when I'd be considerably darker than I am now.

DreamWorld Minerals and Peppermint Patties

I just received some samples of new darker yellow-toned foundations that DreamWorld owner Ellie had just concocted for her avid fans (me included). She was so nice to offer them to me for free, and her generous samples are just SO beautiful. I do have my own custom mix of DreamWorld foundation in Theia and Tethys, but sunny days are here again and I am bound to get darker as the days go by. In fact, I feel that I am already darker and my previous mix of Theia and Tethys no longer cuts it. She sent me original Amenti, her new versions of Amenti (Amenti IV and Amenti V), plus a new version of Theia (Theia IV) and Hebe. Today I used my original Theia foundation mixed with original Amenti, and I thought it was a bit dark in person (I may have to change the recipe a bit, but more or less using the same shades). However, miracle of miracles, it still looks so luminous in pictures - not white, mind you, but just luminous and as the day wore on, it looked more and more natural on my face. I just love Ellie's foundations, they are just right up there, creme de la creme, I should say. I can't wait to try my other DreamWorld minerals, everything is just so gorgeous and softly similar to each other in shade that I think I can wear any of them. That's what I love about DreamWorld foundation, the shades are so forgiving and you look great either way.

I also wanted to have an iridescent blue/green eye look so I wore my favorite Lumiere eyeshadow on the lid, Peppermint Patti (a gorgeous iridescent green/blue/grey that changes colors at the slightest movement), coupled with Valerie Beauty's Papillon (a beautiful light teal shade) on the inner to mid-lid. I used a little of Valerie Beauty's Ancient and Bootcut eyeshadows on the crease and outer V. I applied MAC eyeshadows in Ricepaper and Nylon on the browbone to highlight. Of course, I prepped my eyes by using MAC Beige-ing shadestick as base. I also used Indelible gel liner in Black Out to line and Rimmel and MAC mascaras.

I used one of my favorite mineral blushes, Lumiere Cherry Blossom (I love all of Lumiere's silk and veena blushes, as in there are no duds; every one of them is beautiful IMO).

My Bridal Makeup Attempt: A Step-by-Step Illustration

When I was in New Jersey, I roadtested a bridal look for my cousin Jewelyn who is getting married next month. I used MAC eyeshadows that were bought specifically for her wedding (as recommended by a MAC makeup artist), as well as some products from my own personal collection. I was a little intimidated by the fact that I (a) I am not a professional makeup artist; (b) this is probably just the third or fourth time I've ever done full makeup application on somebody other than myself, (d) I did the whole thing at night without the benefit of natural light, and (c) every step was being documented by her groom using his camera. That said, I did the best I could and if there were some mistakes, I do admit to them; but given the limited lighting, I tried my best to work under not-so-ideal conditions. Nonetheless, she and her mom liked the result. Some products would be tweaked as the big day nears, but this is more or less going to be her look. It was also a good thing that she has beautiful skin; I didn't waste much time in concealing blemishes.

Start with clean, moisturized face

Using Jewelyn's own Everyday Minerals kabuki, I used DreamWorld mineral foundation in Tethys (Sands formula), using the swirl, tap, spritz (using MAC Fix+ moisture spray) and buff technique. I did two layers of foundation.

Some More Neutral Looks

Here are some more neutral looks featuring some of my mineral shadows from Valerie Beauty, She Space and DreamWorld. Not much drama here because these looks were mainly for work and I didn't want to spend too much time in the morning. I am loving these neutral shadows that I've been using lately, though. There were a couple that I used for the first or second time with this look, specifically Wasted Intrigue and Atlantean Treasure, and I really am loving the shades.

I also used a heavier hand in applying my MAC beauty powder blush so the gorgeous shade can really register on the screen. There is some slight sheen to it that is not obvious in my pics but are subtly noticeable in real life. I really love these new blushes!
